Julie has been on the faculty of The Juilliard School since 1989. She also co-teaches and offers master classes at the Bard Conservatory and the Curtis Institute of Music. Among the many musical institutions where Julie has given master classes in the United States are The Colburn School in Los Angeles, Eastman School of Music, Mannes College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, the University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Oklahoma, and University of Southern Mississippi. Her international presence includes master classes and teaching in Norway, Sweden, and Israel.

Julie’s teaching style is a holistic approach that addresses the person, the music, and the instrument. Her instruction includes technical work with tone and articulation and the Caruso Method. With an emphasis on the mental and emotional aspects of performance, Julie encourages her students to utilize meditation, visualization, and the heartfelt connection to music.
